Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
In the previous bulletin, we saw the relativism in Catholic music, where people believe that, if the songs are about God, there is no problem including them in their spiritual life or in the liturgy. Relativism is also present in all areas where the human being unfolds: the family, work, sports, justice, morality, ethics, mass media etc.
Now we will see the degrees of knowledge according to Aristotle and St. Thomás Aquinas. I will make a synthesis of this since there is a lot of information and we would never end. In the 5 categories that Aristotle mentions and in the propositions of St. Thomas Aquinas, we will reduce them in three:
First, we have sensitive knowledge, it is the first source of knowledge: taste, hearing, smell, touch and sight. Secondly, we have knowledge of universals or abstract knowledge. It is the knowledge which reason, through a word makes reference to several things, animals, or people. For example: amphibians, vertebrate, felines, poems, dramas, deli meats, etc. And we have supra-sensible or ontological knowledge. It is knowledge which leads us to the rational knowledge of God, the Trinity, of the presence of God in the Eucharist, etc.
Unfortunately, most people only get to the second level of knowledge, without knowing the Lord and althe greatness of our faith, the treasure of the Eucharist, the second coming of Christ, the mystery of death and resurrection, etc. If people had these three levels of knowledge, along with a spiritual life, they would not be fooled by false ones proposed that cause damage to humanity which we see daily in news: drugs, violence, kidnappings and suicides etc.
